Government butt proprietary bevel butt Square Butt Round Butt Bobtail butt ambi - safety ( right side ) Thumb Recess low cut safety ( left or right side ) How to Select the Right 1911 style Grips: Our standard grips will work without modification on most full size 1911's. However, some pistols have options that require slight changes to the grips for a proper fit. Determining your 1911 Frame Size The easiest way to determine the size of your 1911 frame is to measure the center to center distance of the grip screws. If the center to center distance is approximately 3 1/16" you have a Government Model or Full Size 1911. If the center to center distance is approximately 2 5/8" you have a Compact or Officers Model Size 1911. If the center to center distance is approximately 2 3/8" you have a sub-compact like the Para Ordnance C6. Do you need an Ambi Safety? select yes if you’re not sure. Works with most models, Required for “Swenson” style safety where the lever goes under the right grip. Select no if your 1911 only has the safety lever on the left side. 1911 Grip Thickness Our Standard Thickness grips measure about 0.260". Our Slim Thickness grips measure about 0.165". We use the convention of listing grips as Standard or Slim based on the above thicknesses for all the 1911 style grips we sell. Nearly all Para C6 guns and most Springfield EMP guns come from the factory with Slim grips with some exceptions, however, we build grips in either thickness for these guns. the easy way to tell if you have Standard or Slim Grips on your 1911 besides measuring is to compare the height of the grips to the height of the plunger tube between the slide release and thumb safety on the left side of the gun. The standard height of the plunger tube is 0.16" tall. So if the grips are close to the same height as the tube, you have slim grips. If the grips are higher than the tube by more than 1/16", then the grips are Standard Thickness. grip screws I n most cases, But there are exceptions. Most 1911s - 1911s from Kimber, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Les Baer, STI, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom, Springfield Armory, Colt, Rock Island Armory, Metro Arms, Citadel, and nearly all other custom 1911s with standard thickness grips can use the factory screws. Some models from these manufacturers will have slim grips and you will need to change to standard bushings and screws to go to Standard Thickness Grips. Alternately, Slim Thickness Grips can be installed by changing to Slim Grip Screws and Bushings. Taurus PT-1911 Grips Taurus is a different animal ( excuse the analogy ) they use a larger diameter head grip screw of 8mm or .315", however, We build all Taurus grips to use the factory screws and We can build them with standard counterbores for 9/32" or .275 diameter 1911 screws on request. Slim Grips can also be installed on the Taurus with a change to Slim Grip Screws and Bushings. they are manufactured with a standard 1911 diameter counterbore. Norinco the factory screws can be used on Standard Thickness Grips but the threads on the bushings are not standard 1911 so you CANNOT install Slim Grip Screw Bushings. GSG, Colt, Walther 1911-.22 Standard Thickness 1911 Grips fit the imported .22 LR 1911s with the factory grip screw. however, These guns have a non-standard thread on the bushings so you CANNOT install Slim 1911 Grip Bushings on the gun for use with Slim Grips. Also, please note that these guns also need a special Ambidextrous Safety Cut because the retention lever sits lower on the gun and is slightly thicker. The Colt New Agent have Slim Grips from the factory but uses a screw with a larger head. The screw needs to be replaced to use our Slim Grips on this gun. butt style Government Style Butt - this is the original design as found on all Government style 1911's proprietary bevel butt – this is not to be confused with a bobtail butt such as Ed Brown and others like that. This is our proprietary design. And is what most people need and it is shown in most of our pictures. It is basically a redesign of the government style. It is a straight bevel cut instead of the typical half moon notch cut around the Main Spring Housing (MSH) pin. We find that it is more attractive and also more functional because it eliminates a snag point. Square Butt - this is found on most 1911's with a Magwell installed, however, it can be put on any 1911 with a standard butt profile Round-Butt - this is found on models such as Kimber Super Carry Pro. Bobtail - these are found on Models such as Ed Brown and others like that.
- Grip Screw Tensioning O-Rings | Installation Guide
Learn how to install grip screw O-rings for proper tension and a secure fit. Prevent loosening and improve stability with this quick guide. Grip Screw O-Rings Installation Our O-rings are made from a special compound and are manufactured right here in our facility, these are not over the counter O-rings that can be purchased at your local hardware store, they are a special size and toughness just for firearms, we suggest you purchase at least eight (8) grip screw O-rings for every set of Grips. Because Our O-rings are a special size sometimes it may be necessary to use two (2) O-rings per screw to provide enough tension also If you remove your grips often, it is a great idea to buy more grip screw O-rings because they do their job by getting smashed and will therefore wear out after several uses. When using O-rings, we suggest the grip screws be installed with minimal amount of torque, high torque may cause the O-Ring to be overly crushed therefore hampering their benefits. There are several benefits to using O-rings. (1) They prevent grip screws from loosening. (2) They prevent abrasive grips from scuffing the frame by shifting during discharge. (3) They provide an overall tighter grip mounting for optimal performance. (4) The O-rings are helpful every time you clean and disassemble your firearm because they keep sweat and debris from getting underneath the grips that could cause potential problems later.(5) They keep grip screws from tightening down on bushings, or frame in some cases, which will cause big problems later when removing grips and the old headache of bushings coming out with the grip screws . Some model firearms do not use grip screw bushings, so the O-rings will either sit on the frame or on the counterbore of the grip itself.

- Grip And Stock Assembly Instructions I Custom Firearm Products | USA
Pistol Grips, Revolver Grips, Rifle Stocks, Assembly Instructions Store Listings Click on Manufacturer 1911 AR-15 Browning Colt Diamondback Diana LP8 Kimber Para Ordnance Phoenix Arms Ruger Sig Sauer Smith & Wesson Springfield Armory Taurus Grip AND STOCK Installation REMOVAL OF THE OLD grips OR STOCKS Before any disassembly of the gun, MAKE SURE IT IS UNLOADED. Point the gun in a safe direction to unload it. Pistols: Remove the magazine, clear the action and check barrel and chamber to ensure they are clear of any rounds. Revolvers: Open the cylinder and remove any rounds. Double check to make sure no rounds remain in the weapon. Remove Existing Grips as per the instructions of the manufacturer. Be careful not to damage the existing grips. Set aside and preserve the factory grips, ask about our trade in program and receive a credit for trading in your old grips. Installing New Grips OR STOCKS Clean the frame before installing new grips. If you're not sure, ASK US! We have installed these grips ourselves and are familiar with the process. Don't wait until the problem is insurmountable, or damage is done to the gun or grips. Some revolver grips have one or more pins in the back- or front strap area. The halves of these grips must be carefully worked apart by slow, easy movement - rotating around the pin on those grips with just one pin to prevent damage to the new grips. Multiple-pin grips must be gently moved to work them apart - direct, outward force will cause cracking or breaking of the grip. Avoid prying the two halves apart as you may nick the wood of the grips or damage the holes containing the pins. Clean the frame before installing new grips. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE GRIP SCREW(S), as the grips will be damaged when the gun is fired. Grips should be just snugged up, typically no further than 45 degrees after the screw head contacts the grip; to further secure grip screw(s), Do not use a permanent thread sealant as the screw(s) will require heat for removal. Tightening the grip screw(s) until they will no longer turn is the surest way to damage your grips! If the grips do not fit correctly, DO NOT FORCE THEM ON. Be certain you have purchased the correct grips for your gun! If they are correct, fit the grips to the gun before installing the grip screws(s); never use the screws to force or pull the grips to the gun, as doing so may damage the grips Some guns vary quite a bit in frame dimensions from gun to gun, such as surplus guns or those from former Soviet-bloc countries. Fitting to the specific gun may be needed if the gun is worn, surplus or older, as the manufacturing process was not as precise, involved hand fitting, or were made with an eye toward production volume rather than precise tolerances. Often surplus or service weapons are of this nature. Metal may be thinner in the slide or frame, or require spacers or work for a tight fit, Many guns prior to the 1980s were largely made by hand and fitted by a gunsmith during assembly. This results in differences from gun to gun, something less common now as guns are made using CNC machining, as are our grips. Be sure to operate your unloaded pistol with the new grips on it prior to firing it. Ensure that the gun's parts operate correctly and there is no interference with the operation. Check to be sure slides, hammers and other moving parts do not contact the grip, as damage could occur. If contact points are found, adjust the position of the grips or fit them to the gun where needed. IMPORTANT NOTE: Only install grips on the frame for which they were designed. Even then, grips may not always be a perfect fit right out of the package as grip frames may vary. Please, read the instructions and DO NOT attempt any alteration until you have done so. Also bear in mind the instruction by manufacturer of your weapon. Grips that have been modified in any way ARE NOT RETURNABLE. Grips damaged due to overtightened grip screws, improper installation or failure to follow manufacturer's or our instructions may not be covered by any warranty. You are responsible for the proper installation of your grips. After installing grips, CHECK YOUR GUN and make sure that all parts of the gun function correctly and without being obstructed or hindered by the grip. Cycle the action on semi-auto pistols to ensure clearance between the grips and the slide; improper clearance may result in damage to the grips or gun when the gun is operated. Improper manipulation of any other internal component may affect the safety and reliability of your firearm and may cause serious injury or death. NEVER ALLOW ANY ALTERATION OR REPLACEMENT OF PARTS IN YOUR FIREARM UNLESS PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED GUNSMITH USING AUTHORIZED PARTS.

What is the difference between Standard Thickness and Slim Thickness 1911 Grips? Our Standard Thickness grips run about 0.26" thick at the center of the grip. Our Slim Line Thickness grips run about 0.165" thick at the center of the grip. Thickness of magwell grips can vary slightly from these thicknesses as we match the height of the magwell. We use the convention of listing grips as Standard or Slim based on the above thicknesses for all the 1911 style grips we sell. Nearly all Para C6 guns and most Springfield EMP guns come from the factory with Slim grips but we build grips in either thickness for these guns. How do I tell if I have Standard or Slim Grips on my 1911? An easy indicator of grip thickness is to compare the height of the grips to the height of the plunger tube between the slide release and thumb safety on the left side of the gun. The standard height of the plunger tube is 0.16" tall. So if the grips are about the same height as the tube, you have slim grips. If the grips are taller than the tube by more than 1/16", then the grips are Standard Thickness. Can I use my factory grip screws? In most cases the answer will be yes. But there are exceptions. Following are several of the most common screw fit answers. Most 1911's - 1911's from Kimber, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Les Baer, STI, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom, Springfield Armory, Colt, Rock Island Armory, Metro Arms, Citadel, and nearly all other custom 1911's with standard thickness grips can use the factory screws. Some models from these manufacturers will have slim grips and may need to have new bushings and screws to go to Standard Thickness Grips. Alternately, Slim Line Thickness Grips can be installed by changing to our Slim Grip Screws and Bushings. Taurus PT-1911 Grips - Taurus uses a larger diameter grip screw. We build all Taurus grips to use the factory screws which have a larger diameter head than a standard 1911 grip screw. We can build them with standard counter bores for 1911 screws on request. Slim Grips can be installed on the Taurus with a change to our Slim Grip Screws and Bushings. Norinco - You can use the factory screws on Standard Thickness Grips but the threads on the bushings are not standard 1911 so you CANNOT install Slim Grip Screws and Bushings. How do I fit my new grip to my gun? Safely make sure the handgun is unloaded! Check the barrel, chamber, or cylinders to be certain they are empty and the gun is safe to work on. Prepare the frame. Remove existing grips and clean the frame and hardware. Gently, pull apart any grips that are two panels pinned together. If new screws were sent with the grip, use them. Otherwise, use the original screws. Install the grips. Use your hands to slowly press the new grips straight onto the frame. The grips should lay flush with the frame and the locator pins should slide easily over the pinhole. Do not use the grip screw to force the grips onto the grip frame pin. If the grips do not easily go over the grip frame pin, open up the edge of the pinhole with a knife and try again. Once the grip sits flush with the frame, tighten the grip screw until snug. It is important not to overtighten the grips! Now make sure there is no interference with the operation of the handgun. Do not load or fire the weapon until the new grips are snugly screwed into place and gun operation remains uninhibited. While fitting problems are unlikely, all frames have some variation! If you have any difficulties fitting the new grips to your gun, please call 1-888-877-4231 between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM (Central) Monday through Friday for technical support. or email us at customfirearmproducts@gmail.com. Do you make left handed grips & stocks? Yes, Please call 888-877-4231 to special order or you can email us at salescustomfirearmproducts@outlook.com How do I know which grips will fit my Smith & Wesson gun? To order a Smith & Wesson grip from us: 1) You will need to know whether your gun is a J, K/L, or N frame 2) Whether it has a round or square butt. The information below is to help you determine what you have. (See Chart) Smith & Wesson guns fall into three main frame categories: J - .38 Special and 9 mm. This is the smallest frame. K/L - .38 Special and .357 Magnum. This is the medium frame revolver. K & L Frames are interchangeable when it comes to grips. N - .41 and .44 Magnum. This is the large frame revolver. Within those three categories, your frame may be either square butt or round butt. Note: You will notice that some models may have been made in both a square butt and a round butt. If this is the case, then you will need to visually decide if your frame is round or square. If your Smith & Wesson model is a round butt, but you prefer the square butt look, consider one of our conversion grips! They are available in K/L and N frame sizes. Taurus builds a Model 1911 but the Taurus gun has several differences that make a Taurus specific grip convenient. Our Taurus line of grips are modified from standard 1911 grips to account for the differences between the Taurus PT-1911 and standard 1911 grips. These grips are designed to be a direct replacement of the factory grips, using the factory screws. Here are the features that require changes to the grips: Larger Counter Bore to Match oversize Taurus Grip Screw Lowered Grip Edge to Clear Low Mounted Safety Lever Deeper Ambi Cut for Thicker Safety Retension Lever Wider Grip at Front Edge for Flat Taurus Frontstrap Our Taurus PT-1911 line accounts for all of these differences and makes the grips a true fit to the gun. We build Taurus PT-1911 grips in all of the materails we use for standard 1911 grips, including Exotic Hardwoods, Hardwood Laminate and Phenolics. The grips are shaped in the traditional 1911 style with the top of the left side panel slightly covering the plunger tube and the bottoms of the grip panel beveled. These grips leave the mainspring housing pin exposed unless the covered pin option is selected. These grips are built with a typical 1911 thickness that fully fits the hand without being overly thick. Grip thickness runs between .255" and .265" thick at the center of the grip. This thickness is slightly thicker than the plastic Taurus factory grips that run about .235" thick. What is an Ambi Safety cut? What type do I need? You will need an Ambi Safety cut if your gun is a 1911 and has a safety on both sides. Standard Ambi Safety cut- You can choose the Standard Ambi Safety cut if you have a Standard or Clone 1911 with the following exceptions: *Rock Island- You will need to select the Rock Island Ambi Safety cut if you have a Rock Island 1911. *STI/Taurus- You will need to select the Taurus/STI Ambi Safety cut if you have a Taurus or STI 1911. *Extended Ambi Safety- You will need to select the Extended Ambi Safety cut if you have an Extended Ambi safety on your pistol. *Kimber- Normally Kimber’s do not have the footer that requires the Ambi Safety cut even if they have a safety on both sides. If you want to be sure you can remove the stock panels from your weapon to see if there is a Thumb nail sized slit in the back of the right grip that faces the frame. - Our Story I Custom Firearm Products | USA
CFP was founded with one goal in mind to provide a full range of high-quality custom firearm products with satisfaction guaranteed. Quality is paramount to CFP and we refuse to sacrifice quality in order to produce more or sell more Our story My name is Joseph Greer. I am a Native Texan, of Houston to be exact, and lifelong avid sportsman. My first gun, as I’m sure for many of you, was a Daisy Red Rider BB Gun. After proving my marksmanship skills and safe firearm handling to my father (and mother) I moved onto a 22 LR Lever Action Repeater. After that, I was hooked. (And the squirrel population dropped dramatically).Firearms became my hobby and my passion. Growing up in the best place ever The Woodlands Texas I had many great life lessons and friends to learn from. After high school as a young man, I moved to Fort Worth Texas to sow my wild oats. where I did everything from working as a ranch hand ( Good Times) to working as a roofers helper (not good times) and finally fell into the Machine shop, where I served as an apprentice for two years (Yes, I'm a real machinist, that's how they did it back then) So as time moved on, naturally for a career, I became a machinist and studied both manual and CNC machines where I also learned programming CNC’s, blueprint reading, and interpretation even some valuable engineering skills as well, becoming familiar with the production manufacturing environment, I moved up through the ranks fairly quickly, even learned how to run a shop as leadman and a foreman. As a machinist, I learned to appreciate the intricacies of how Mechanical things were designed and built, and mainly how firearms were built. This led me to another passion gunsmithing. So, after going for my degree in gunsmithing from The American Gunsmithing Institute in 2002, I created my first of many to follow entrepreneurial ventures, Gun Country LLC which by the way is still our parent company and the holder of our FFL, like a parent it taught me many valuable lessons about life and business, my necessary points of reference were now established. so to top it off in 2016 I put all these together and decided I was going to start making custom firearm products. So naturally, I called this entrepreneurial venture CUSTOM FIREARM PRODUCTS. putting my skills as a hobbyist woodworker to good use as well, I personally must say this is a perfect combination for creating our products and delivering exceptional customer service. Our Products They are manufactured with a combination of modern computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines, hand craftsmanship and then hand finished to produce products with exceptional fit, finish and quality. This means our products look and perform flawlessly. We are best known for our aftermarket and custom line of grips, ( CFP Grips ), Using CNC routers allow us to accurately cut the holes, shape and contour our products to a few thousands of an inch tolerance. After they are precisely cut with our CNC machines each product goes through our hand finishing process and sealed which brings out the amazing depth of color and shifting grain hues in these select woods! Not only are they beautiful, but functional as like everything else we make. We take exceptional pride in the quality of our work and it shows in our products. No products leave our facility without a full inspection for fit, finish, and functionality. But we aren't just all about exotic wood grips, we also use other materials, and manufacture other products associated with firearms.
